The audience also had a very healthy discussion with our esteemed paenl of medical and health professionals taht included a heart specialist who spoke about the health benefits of olive oil.
2008-09 INDIA PROMOTION CAMPIGN
The general objective of the IOC promotion policy are to foster the consumption of olive and table olives, both in traditional consumer markets and in new, high-potential ones.
For 2008-2009 a promotion campaign has been launched in India, one of the most populous and fastest growing economies in the world. The new purchasing power combined with traditional awareness of the benefits of natural and vegetarian products offres a great chance to enhance the consumption of Olive Oil and Table Olives in India, Which is the largest importer of Vegitable oils in the world.
Till now in India, Olive Oil has been used mostly for cosmetics and skin care, so the concept that it is beneficial is already well accepted. Now it has to be developed, stressing its many health-related properties(first of all for cardivascular diseases, ageing and diabets). At the same time, it has to be made clear that can be used raw and cooked to flaver Mediterrancen cusine and local, highly sophisticated Indian food.
